Foolish Jackals – Lion Mixed Media Collage – Limited Edition Fine Art Print – African Wildlife
A lion moves through the sunlit grasslands of South Africa — unhurried, unbothered, sovereign. Around him, the world makes its noise. He does not notice. He does not need to.
Foolish Jackals is a mixed media work illustrated on handmade coffee paper with paint and India ink. At its center, a solitary lion strides across the sunlit grasslands of South Africa — majestic, unbothered, resolute. All photographs in this piece were taken by the artist in South Africa, 2019.
Inscribed on the photograph is a reflection: "It is said that when there is a thundering sound in the clouds, the mighty lion immediately replies with his thundering roar. But the lion doesn't care when all the foolish jackals begin to make their less important sounds."
Surrounding the central image, a border of documentary photographs records the lion's world — moments of rest, tension, and survival that together create an intimate archive of presence. Each smaller image and layered brushstroke deepens the narrative, transforming the work into a story of courage, authenticity, and the dignity of stillness amid noise.
